Holiday Cheers & New For Next Year
A few exciting things are happening this holiday season, so I thought I would write an end-of-the-year newsletter to update you on all of the Play>Practice news!
We will be implementing a player grading system in 2019, called Level Up! Similar to a martial arts school, we want to group players by skill level, rather than by age, grade, or height. We will have 7 color levels from White to Black, that will be indicated by wrist band color. Players that complete an after school program will be able to earn a White band, and be eligible for Yellow Level programs. Experienced players may request an evaluation to be placed in the appropriate level program. For a full list of criteria for each level, visit: Level up!
On January 20th, 2019 we will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary! As you may have already heard, we will be starting programs at The Rim in Hampton, NH in January. This will be our 2nd home-base on the seacoast, and we plan to have programs offered there year-round. Mistake Makers (Yellow level) begins Wednesday January 2nd, (Blue Level) Mistake Makers begins Thursday, January 3rd, After school for K-5th (White Level) begins Monday January 7th, and Mistake Makers for Green Level (Co-ed) and Blue Level begins January 7th. We will also be hosting tactical training for Green and Blue level players on Saturdays beginning January 13th, and Shooter’s Club for Blue level players and above on Saturday evenings at The Rim.
Our offerings in Nottingham, NH will continue, including after school programs, holiday and school break camps, and specific training programs for all levels of players. We still have room in our Christmas week camp starting Dec 26th! Details here
Most importantly, I am proud to announce that my wife Joslyn and I will be welcoming our first baby into the world in July 2019. We are very excited, and as 1 of 8 siblings, I cannot wait to experience fatherhood and growing our own family. I have always loved kids, and I am greatly looking forward to having a child of my own.
Happy Holidays to you and your family! I hope the season is filled with loving family, great food, and lasting memories.
I look forward to seeing you again soon in the New Year!
P.S. I had the opportunity to present a coaching clinic to the Kittery Recreation department earlier this month, discussing everything about philosophy and practical coaching methods for youth basketball ages 5-14. Below is the first of 10 episodes I will be releasing, this one is entitled “How we got here” which includes a brief history of my coaching journey. Episode 2, Philosophy of Play>Practice is available here. Enjoy!
